Virtual Language & Literacy Enrichment Series

Picture
As everyone gets back to normality in a variety of ways, we know there are likely specialized areas where your child could benefit from a little more support. We are here and ready to help!

Let us know if you would like your child of any age (preschool through high school) to join one of the programs below, and times in the week that will work for you! We will then bring kids together accordingly.

PRE LITERACY/PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS CLUB
Could your child use some extra support in decoding words and story comprehension? In this group we will work with early readers on phonemic awareness skills such as rhyming, letter sounds, word patterns, spelling rules and even some new vocabulary while exploring a variety of picture books!

THAT STUBBORN SYNTAX!
Are you still hearing some grammatical errors in your child’s speech? For example, do they mix up their subject and object pronouns ("Him is happy") or use the wrong verb tense ("I throwed the ball")? Or, for some reason - which you can’t quite put your finger on - their sentences just don’t sound right. If this is your kid - sign up for this series!

SCHOOL AGE BOOK CLUB

Dates:  to be determined based on interest
Ages: School-aged

Calling all book lovers! In this 5-week reading program, we will focus on
collaborative thinking, making predictions, summarizing, sharing opinions, self-reflection and positive memories using shared books! Participants will be provided relevant resources prior to our start date. This is a great opportunity for children to develop and share their love of reading while making connections with peers.

  • Cost: $45 per session
  • Depending on your insurance and child, this may be covered, with only copay or deductible due.
  • NOTE: some insurances are waiving cost share for telehealth at this time.

ARTICULATION BOOT CAMP
Does your child struggle with certain sounds? Feel frustrated when they’re not understood? Notice when their words sound different than their friends? In this group kids will work together to help each other with obstinate sounds they just can’t quite get!

Many children grapple with r, l, th, and s, to name a few. Working together with peers can help kids understand that everyone learns speech sounds differently, and feel better supported and understood. If your child has some sounds they need extra help with, we’ll tackle it!

This group integrates peer support, discussion, learning about our mouths and articulators, and practicing strategies to produce tricky sounds to help foster speaking confidence and increase speech clarity!

This series runs periodically for 5 weeks. Dates and times to be determined based on interest.

Specific Activities Include
● Learning about the articulators, structures and muscles in our mouths that help us make sounds
● Learning specific strategies and tools to achieve tricky sounds
● Integrating sensory activities into learning about and practicing sounds
● Encouraging self-monitoring skills
● Drill practice (repeated practice) of challenging sounds
● At-home activities to facilitate carryover of newly learned skills

If interested, call our office on 978-712-0003 or email at admin@pptfth.com for more information.
